People with food allergies cannot be too cautious with what they eat, making food labelling extremely important to them. As of December 13th, 2014, it is a legal requirement that any of the fourteen food allergens on the regulatory list must be highlighted should they be contained within a packaged food item. Gluten, present in cereals, includes wheat such as spelt, Khorasan wheat/Kamut, rye, barley, oats and their hybridised strains.
